New ScanCam version to be released

Auckland, NZ,  April 11th 2011 – Zenith Asset Management, a leading provider of shrink reduction technology for retailers, announced today that a new version of the ScanCam will go into production at the end of April.

The new V5 version gives you the ability to quickly and easily change the scanner cable in the field. Although this was possible in the older (V4) version, it required removal of the top case. Cable replacement is now seamless and it means that customers that upgrade their scanner technology in the future will not have to worry about replacing the entire ScanCam unit. Cables can be purchased separately.

The new version will be available in cartons of ten (10) at the end of May. Here’s a summary of the key changes;

1. The default on-time of the LED (dwell) has been increased to 600 milliseconds but is adjustable via an internal dip-switch
2. A new circuit has been added to allow dual configuration i.e. A flatbed scanner and a hand scanner on the same ScanCam
3. The electronics have been updated to allow seamless integration with the impending USB module
4. All cables assemblies are now 12 feet (3.6m)
5. For security reasons, the new cable assemblies latch in the base of the ScanCam and cannot be removed without a key
6. The wiring to the LED is now crimped in the factory to improve reliability
7. Cartons are now supplied with a small black adhesive dot to hide the locking screw (optional)
8. Due to fact that the cables are now purchased separately to suit your scanner, the carton is now much smaller
9. Alcohol wipes for surface preparation are now standard in the packaging

The previous V4 version will now be discontinued. We have a small number left in stock and these will be discounted until stock is gone. If you would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
