USB Module undergoing detection upgrade

 In Availability, New Products, News

We are currently working on upgrading the firmware on our USB module to be able to detect the suffix <ETX> appended to the barcode when the client configures the hand scanner for serial over USB.

Currently, our USB module will only work with hand or presentation scanners configured for HID or keyboard emulation mode as it detects the CTRL/Return command appended to the barcode.

In conjunction with a client request, we are now testing detection of serial over USB with the following scanners:

  • Metrologic MS9540
  • Motorola DS9808-R
  • Honeywell Xenon 1900GSR-1

So far, we have been able to confirm this works on the current hardware but should we take this into production, we may look at further improvements to allow detection of RS-485 over USB often used when clients utlilize IBM 46xx hosts.

Stay tuned for updates.
